| CORNERSTONE HELPS BUILD HOSPICE HOUSE |
 |
Cornerstone Community Federal Credit Union has announced a $50,000 commitment over the next five years to Niagara Hospice’s “Wings of Serenity” fundraising campaign to build a hospice residence and in-patient facility in Niagara County. Niagara Hospice House will be Niagara County’s only hospice residence, providing hospice services to patients and their families who are not able to receive home hospice care. The new facility, currently under construction, will be 24,000 square feet and located on Sunset Drive in the Town of Lockport.
“Supporting hospice care in our community illustrates our philosophy of people helping people," said David Nemi, Chairman of the Cornerstone Community Federal Credit Union board. "Because we are committed to the highest standard of quality in everything we do, we believe supporting the construction of Niagara Hospice House is a true investment in the future of our members, and the community we serve."
One wing of Niagara Hospice House will hold eight suites specifically designed for patients who need residential hospice care. The other wing will have ten suites designed for patients needing short-term medical monitoring and symptom management. The building is designed to reflect a home-like atmosphere, rather than an institutional setting, that will be welcoming and comfortable for patients and family alike. Niagara Hospice House is slated to welcome its first residents in spring 2007.
“It is gratifying to know that our community recognizes the need for a hospice residence in Niagara County, and having the support of Cornerstone Community Federal Credit Union behind us demonstrates how this project is a true benefit to Niagara County residents and their families,” said Patricia Evans, Niagara Hospice co-founder and board member.
“This gift is in alignment with our core value of community visibility and involvement,” said Ann Brittin, President and CEO of Cornerstone Community FCU. “We are happy to support such a noble cause and the very special work of Niagara Hospice.”
