News & Events September 01, 2010 « Back To News MOTHER'S DAY WALK SUPPORTS HOSPICE HOUSE The Annual Mother’s Day Breast Cancer Canal Walk is the sole supporter of Mary’s Wig Room at the American Cancer Society (ACS). This year marked the 14th year for the walk that has grown more successful each year. Canal Walk Chairwoman, Rebecca Florio says: “We are so grateful to the giving community we work and live in that has made this walk so successful year to year. Not only are we able to keep Mary’s Room up and running, we are also able to support other local charitable organizations that support research, education and services for breast cancer victims and their families.”  Florio recently presented a $3,000 donation to Niagara Hospice to help support Niagara Hospice House. Niagara Hospice House is Niagara County’s only hospice house, providing services to patients and their families who are not able to receive home hospice care. It consists of two wings: a residential wing that holds ten suites specifically designed for patients who need residential hospice care; an in-patient wing with ten suites designed for patients needing short-term medical monitoring and symptom management.
